Staff Picks (February): Darkwing Duck #1
Jan 20, 2016
He is the terror that flaps in the night. He is the jailer that throws away the key, the hairball that clogs your drains, the fingernail that scrapes the blackboard of your soul, he is DARKWING DUCK!
It's been a while since Disney's Darkwing Duck cartoon ended and we last checked in on our favorite crime fighting mallard. Unfortunately, for the citizens of St. Canard, crime hasn't taken a holiday in our absence — but neither has Darkwing! This April, Joe Books is taking us back to St. Canard and reintroducing us to fan favorites Launchpad McQuack, Gosalyn Mallard, and Drake Mallard aka Darkwing Duck with a new monthly series.
Writer Aaron Sparrow captures the essence of the original show while updating the concept for 2016 and James Silvani's artwork is simply spot on. As a kid that grew up in the 80's and early 90's this book is dripping with nostalgia and pulling me back to a time when cartoons like Duck Tales and Tales Spin were must see TV for my generation.
If you're looking for a book suitable for all ages that is fun and witty for both kids and parents that grew up with the original show be sure to check out Darkwing Duck #1 from Joe Books.
