Staff Picks (November): Man Plus #1
Oct 21, 2015
Do you love a great sci-fi thriller? My personal favorites are those in which the audience is thrown into the distant future to a world similar, yet amazingly different from our own. The viewer is left to figure out the differences between our world and theirs, and absolutely nothing is certain. Trust no one.
Man Plus #1, coming in January from Titan Comics, hits all of the right notes for a sci-fi classic in the making. Cyborgs illegally roam the streets, and strike teams are determined to run them out of existence no matter who or what stands in their way. There are those that go above the law in an attempt to rid the world of cyborgs on their own, creating all sorts of chaos for those abiding by the rules. With social themes similar to our own, Man Plus addresses philosophies on life and existence with plenty of bold action along the way.
André Lima Araújo is such an incredible artistic talent that I am convinced he may already be a cyborg. Having proven himself on Avengers A.I. and Spider-Verse, Araújo breaks out from cape comics to bring his exquisitely detailed pencil work to creator owned comics. Man Plus #1 is the artificial intelligence book of 2016 to keep an eye on.
