Humans have come a long way since the beginning of recorded time, it’s too bad it took so little time to end up right back where they started. This is how the modern world ends as orchestrated by Rick Remender, one of comics’ current sci-fi innovators.

In the near future, the human population is too big and too careless while our small world struggles to recover. In our urgency to “fix” the problem with science, science turns on the human race. The cure becomes a disease that infects almost all of the living species on Earth, reversing the last forty millennia of evolution. The modern world of technology, religion, and law doesn’t mean much to animals and that’s what most of the world has become. One woman named Raja has managed to survive among the animals of this new world for a long time with only one mission; find a way to save the world.

Remender is back at it again with yet another wild ride of sci-fi action drama in Devolution. However, what you may not be used to is the equally wild and highly kinetic art of Jonathan Wayshak, rendering action and emotion with a fever pitch. The ugliness of a savage and dying world is rarely this beautiful. This isn’t the first post-apocalyptic tale told in comics but it may be one of the most memorable ones you’ll read.
