Let's face it. We're probably not getting our flying cars, hover boards, a Cubs World Series victory, Jaws 19, or a lot of the other amazing technologies featured in Back to the Future II. We did manage to get a few neat pieces of tech shown in the movie. Motion sensing video games are now a reality. Skype lets us video chat face to face like Marty. Wearable technology, like the Fit Bit, is becoming fashionable, and the best thing we're getting in 2015 is another ride in our favorite time-traveling DeLorean!

IDW is recharging the flux capacitor with the help of Back to the Future screenwriter Bob Gale along with veteran IDW writers John Barber (Transformers vs. G.I. Joe) and Eric Burnham (Ghostbusters), Brent Schoonover (Batman 66) and Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters) will be bringing their considerable artistic talents to the book.

The new series will answer some questions that fans have been wondering since the original trilogy. How did these two meet up? They're as unlikely a team as any. Marty is a teenage slacker and Doc Brown is an eccentric inventor who burned his house down. In the first movie, Doc Brown has no qualms telling Marty straight up that he stole the plutonium for his time travel machine from terrorists. Marty is shocked but he doesn't abandon his friend, not even when those terrorists show up guns blazing.

This October, IDW and the team on Back to the Future #1 are what really makes time travel possible.
