Staff Picks (June): X-Files - Season 11 #1

When it was hinted at that X-Files might be coming back to television I was hopeful. When it was confirmed to return for a limited series, I was beyond thrilled and eagerly started binge watching the original series on Netflix. It had been years since I had seen the series on TV, and I had forgotten how attached I had become to the series as a kid. At this point, I’ve already watched 7 seasons and I’m getting close to the home stretch, but thanks to IDW, there is a lot more material to pour over before the new series kicks off in 2016.

Before the TV show networks jumped back on the bandwagon, IDW was already continuing the series with The X-Files: Season 10 (OCT130418, JUL130331, NOV130304). Fox Mulder’s quest for the truth continued in print.

Now, IDW is poised to take things to the next level with The X-Files: Season 11 #1. Mulder is now a fugitive and his own government considers him a threat on the level of Edward Snowden due to the machinations of Gibson Praise (also known as the Glasses Wearing Man). We first met Gibson Praise in season 5 of the television show. Gibson was a highly sought after commodity after having narrowly avoided his own assassination. He is able to read the minds of others due to the fact his DNA structure included extra-terrestrial material.

The arrival of Gibson Praise has now put Mulder in check. How can he stop a man who knows what he’s thinking? How can he even escape? Be sure to jump on board with IDW’s ongoing X-Files series with The X-Files: Season 11 #1 this August. The truth is still out there!
