Staff Picks (March): Oh, Killstrike #1
Feb 18, 2015
Everyone loves the 90’s, right? Right?!? Of course you do!
Jared Holliweather is experiencing the many things that typical adults go through—settling into a home with his wife, struggling to pay off mortgage, providing food for their newborn infant, and dealing with a justice-seeking comic book character that crawled out of his most prized comic book and into reality.
Oh, Killstrike represents everything that made comics in the 90’s so crazy: unnecessary pouches, metallic limbs, kneepads, extra knives, and an unfettered desire for vengeance. Max Bemis, lead man behind the band Say Anything, takes everything about the whacky superhero scene of the late 90s and mashes it together into the character Killstrike. And it is glorious.
A unique take on the buddy comedy, Oh, Killstrike is an endearing story of love for comics as we enter adulthood. It is the type of story that makes you remember why you love these things in the first place.
