Staff Picks (February): Sonic/Megaman: Worlds Collide - The Complete Epic
Jan 21, 2015
Sonic/Mega Man: Worlds Collide – The Complete Epic is exactly what it sounds like—epic!
Collecting the twelve part maxi-series from issues of Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic Universe, Worlds Collide sees the Blue Bomber and the Blue Blur team up to stop the evil machinations of both of their mustache twirling archenemies. Knuckles, Protoman, Tails, Roll, and many more—the whole gang is there to put a stop to Dr. Wily and Dr. Eggman. That is part of what makes stories like this so exciting; colorful, exuberant unique personalities matching up to breathe new life into the characters.
A strong crossover brings out the best of different properties, and Sonic/Mega Man: Worlds Collide is one of the greatest modern day examples that you will find. Capturing the atmosphere of the video games, Ian Flynn expertly crafts a fun story drawn by a plethora of wonderfully talented artists. Topped off with a beautiful cover drawn by Patrick “Spaz” Spaziante, and there is plenty to love about this book.
Robot Masters? Plenty. Anthropomorphic heroes? Oh yeah. Robot Masters in an all-out duel with anthropomorphic animals with the fate of reality hanging in the balance? Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Sonic/Mega Man: Worlds Collide – The Complete Epic is a classic video game crossover told in a manner that can only be done in comics!
