With Superman and Batman already passing their 75th anniversaries it’s hard to believe both The Flash and Green Lantern are also hitting the big 75. So many of comics' historic characters are hitting milestone anniversaries, and we can rely on TwoMorrows Publishing to do it right and treat the characters and the creators behind them with the respect they deserve.

Alter Ego #132 covers the Golden Age and Silver Age eras (1940 to 1970), and Back Issue #80 follows those heroes into the Bronze Age and beyond. Everyone is covered from Jay Garrick to Barry Allen and the real Alan Scott to Hal Jordan.

Both magazines feature artwork by some of the top creators of their time—Carmine Infantino, Gil Kane, Joe Kubert, Lee Elias, Marty “Golden Age GL” Nodell, Alex Toth for the Golden and Silver Ages, and into the 1970s and 80s we see work by John Byrne, Mike Grell, Denny O’Neil, Irv Novick, Ross Andru, and others.

While crossovers in the Golden Age were usually left to the team-up books like All Star Comics, in the 60s all that changed as characters could appear in another hero's book with meetings between the Barry Allen Flash and the Hal Jordan Green Lantern as only Julie Schwartz could arrange, which helped to add character to the world of DC heroes. While the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths changed many aspects of those crossovers, it did lead to Mark Waid and Barry Kitson's The Brave & The Bold mini-series featuring The Flash and Green Lantern, keeping true to what’s gone on before yet brought into the current era.

TwoMorrows has put out excellent product for years and being a big fan of the Schwartz-era Green Lantern I can’t praise these issues or these titles enough. With a TV series and planned movies, these magazines will bring you up to speed.
