Staff Picks (January): Project Superpowers - Black Cross #1

The original Project Superpowers was a comic event that re-introduced readers to many of comics’ earliest superheroes with the help of Alex Ross and his familiar, larger-than-life rendition. In 2015, the Project Superpowers legacy starts a new chapter with an all new direction and creative team that should surprise and satisfy readers’ expectations.           

The Black Terror takes the helm in a much darker and moodier superhero story from famed writer Warren Ellis. The small, quiet town of Blackcross suddenly finds itself with a peculiar murder and strange, supernatural happenings. Local resident, Rob Benton (formally known as The Black Terror) has been hiding with witness protection up until the mysterious murder case begins exposing elements of his past he hadn’t counted on facing.           

Dynamite regular Colton Worley illustrates a much grittier perspective on superheroes with this new mystery thriller from the Project Superpowers universe. Superheroes go the route of Twin Peaks in Blackcross.
