Staff Picks (Feb14): Weapon Brown GN

Parody and homage are two approaches that appear in comics quite a bit but not all are created equal. This isn’t the Peanuts you know and love but, as you read Weapon Brown, you can’t help but smile at the fun, if not strange, references to the classic comic strip.
“Chuck” is a tough man in a tough, post-nuclear world. With a bald head and familiar curly-Q of remaining hair, Chuck walks the barren landscape with his trusty black and white hound at his side. Along his journey, Chuck encounters allies and foes from all sorts of funny pages, it’s enough to make a man say “oh, brother.”
Similar in style to 2000 AD Magazine, Weapon Brown is dark and dirty science-fiction, peppered with crude jokes and lavish violence all at the expense of your Sunday Funnies section. Chuck’s adventures are all finally compiled into one definitive collection complete with a never-before-published ending to this decade-long saga.
