This new series by BOOM! is horror at its best! From just this first issue you get the complete aura of the genre with the creepy small town, the ominous happenings, and a series of mysterious (and gruesome) deaths. Unlike your typical, run of the mill horror comic though, there is an added depth in Curse #1 that takes you beyond the blasé werewolf story. There is a menacing ambiguity that plays out in the staccato pacing and writing style that literally pulls you through the pages.

Though we move in a haze through a series of mysterious events, the reader cannot help but feel that maybe capturing a werewolf really could be the key to curing a dying boy -- and I want to keep reading to find out why.
