Staff Pick (September12): Atomic Robo: Real Science Adventures Volume 1 SC

Robo’s been busy. This trade paperback marks the first collection of Robo’s spin-off adventures and it’s been an exciting journey so far.

Robo’s exploits span nearly a hundred years and this series covers just about every decade as he travels the globe teaming with a group of monster hunters, protecting a village in WW2 China, journeying to the vampire dimension, taking on Dr. Dinosaur (again), or even teaming with Bruce Lee himself. Sounds too crazy to be all one comic series? Well that’s exactly what it sounds like but it doesn’t make it any less true.

As always, Robo wisecracks and then cracks skulls on his mission to keep the world safe from dangerous fringe science and the mad men who wish to wield it against humanity. A stable of unique artists have contributed to this ambitious series all written by the original Robo writer Brian Clevinger. Robo has been an indie favorite of mine for some time now, as well as many other readers out there, and now there’s one more reason to join the fan club.
