The Leeds Comic Art Festival 11-18 November 2012

The starts of this year’s Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds is now days away! From 11th – 18th November, in association with Leeds International Film Festival, the largest celebration of comics and animation in the UK will take over Yorkshire - a celebration of sequential art in all its forms, including everything from superhero comics to independent and small-press artists and writers.

Special guests attending as part of this year’s festival programme will include Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson (Nowhere Men), Giannis Milonogiannis (Prophet), Jordie Bellaire (The Rocketeer), Nick Spencer (Morning Glories), Jock (Batman), Emma Rios (Captain Marvel), and Cameron Stewart (Sea Guy). This year we're delighted to be welcoming Image Comics to their first ever Thought Bubble, with a huge stand of signing/sketching guests, merchandise, and a special 20th Anniversary panel as part of the convention programme, as well as publishing the all-new Thought Bubble charity anthology (in shops this Wednesday).

The wider festival programme for this year's Thought Bubble will feature free art and writing based workshops for young people and adults, a two day academic conference, talks and masterclasses lead by industry professionals, and a programme of sequential art related film screenings, all building up to a special two day convention on 17th & 18th November. The Thought Bubble convention includes an incredible line-up of leading artists and writers, and over 300 tables showcasing the best sequential art has to offer. The weekend will also feature portfolio viewings and competitions, as well as a huge cosplay parade. This year's Thought Bubble is shaping up to be our best yet, so don't miss out!

Tickets for the centre-piece convention can be bought online at this page, with special discounts for cosplayers, and under-12s entering the venue for free with an accompanying ticket holding parent/guardian. Further special guests include Jason Aaron (Scalped, Wolverine and the X-Men), Mark Waid and Paolo Rivera (Daredevil), and Beck Cloonan (Conan) – with many more big names attending a UK show for the first time ever. For a full line-up, please visit this page.

A number of events at this year’s festival have a limited capacity, and spaces on these fantastic workshops, talks, and live performances are filling up fast, so book soon to avoid disappointment. A summary of events, including our special free Comics vs Games extravaganza with Andy Belanger, requiring prior booking can be found on the Thought Bubble Blog.
