Nick Spencer’s used to taking on a lot of different comic book projects, some big, some bigger than others. But none so small as Ant-Man, which is funny because the Ant-Man movie is going to be one of the BIGGEST attractions at the box office this summer. Always a good guy to give you five minutes for a sit-down, Nick shared a few insights as to what was going on in the back room when he took on writing Marvel’s Ant-Man: Last Days #1 (JUN150686), which is in stores August 26!

**********

PREVIEWSworld: Nick, what do you have in store for Scott Lang this time? What new pitfall awaits the reformed thief? How is Scott both an ant and a rhino in this storyline?

Nick Spencer: Since our second issue, readers have been wanting to know more about the mysterious Ms. Morgenstern, the investor behind Scott's new security company. Well, that's a favor she's about to call in, and it will cause all kinds of trouble for Scott. Not to mention the world is ending! So there's that.

PREVIEWSworld: So what was it like writing the Ant-Man comic at the time of the film’s release? Did it impact your writing at all?

Article Image 9225Nick Spencer: Very exciting stuff. I'm really honored that Marvel gave me a shot at this at such a high profile moment in the character's existence. And we've definitely tried to craft this book so that fans of the movie could pick up the trade of our first arc and hopefully connect with the comics version as well.

PREVIEWSworld: What new strain of adrenaline did you put in your IV drip for this book? What kind of music soundtrack was playing in the background when you scripted Last Days? Fans would love to know what was going on in your mind when you attacked the keyboard.

Nick Spencer: Inspiration for this book came easy as Scott's a great character with a lot of untapped potential. As for soundtrack, I actually posted a public playlist over on Spotify --  https://open.spotify.com/user/nickspencerly

PREVIEWSworld: As this isn’t your first Ant-Man comic book story, does that mean you have more stories yet to be tapped? Unfinished notes? Undecipherable scribbles?

Nick Spencer: I would certainly be up for more Ant-Man if the universe weren't ending in Secret Wars!

PREVIEWSworld: Nick, do you plan on hitting any conventions this summer? If so, will you be making any announcements on social media about where you’ll be?

Nick Spencer: I'll be at San Diego Comic Con with some cool announcements. Beyond that, who knows? Nothing on the books yet.
