Andreyko Lassoes Wonder Woman '77, Takes Batwoman Into Space

Article Image 87d2Marc Andreyko has it good these days. When we caught up with him at New York Comic Con, the writer was quick to announce his enthusiasm for his latest job on writing Batwoman, and the opportunity to pave a new road for an old TV property.

To say his plate is full is an understatement. Batwoman is not exactly in her own element, because her latest exercise in bad guy battles has her slugging it out in outer space.

Article Image dfdc"Last spring I was talking with Mark Doyle...and the editors in the Bat office, and Mark was all about making sure that each of the Bat books had its own identity and reason for being, and he said 'What about doing sort of a horrory team book?' And I said, ok!"

The end result was Marc got to play with a lot of different DC characters, and the opportunity to test his rhyming skills when it came to working with such heavy hitters as the Demon.

But the big announcement from Marc was the breaking news about how DC was bringing back Princess Diana from the days when satellite TV was a pipe dream.

For those who grew up in the 70s, the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman TV series was a program you didn't want to miss. Lynda made history with the show, and Marc counts himself as one of the die-hard fans that was never disappointed. And now he considers himself one of the luckiest guys writing for DC as he's been given the opportunity to do something in the vein of what's already being done with the Batman 66 license.

"I spent so much time as a seven year-old spinning around hoping I could change my clothes that to actually get to writer Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman is going to be a lot of fun."

Andreyko, as it turned out, was given the job of plotting the course for Wonder Woman ’77, a new series based on the popular 1970s television show starring Lynda Carter. With several artists lined up for the project, it will premiere digitally in December with six consecutive weekly chapters, and will then be collected in two print issues for a 2015 release date.
