Robots Run Rampant In Lobster Johnson's Metal Monsters

Article Image 5520A man running down city streets with a mechanical monolith following his every footstep. A movie perhaps? But a monstrosity marching after a man that sports goggles in the middle of the night makes you ponder if something else is playing out.

A pulp prose novel would be the first guess… and you would be half-right.

This is what works its way out of the growing Hellboy mythos, and in the world of Hellboy the pulp hero Lobster Johnson fights the criminal underworld in the 1930s and 1940s. This spring, John Arcudi chronicles a new tale of pulp action in Dark Horse Comics' new Lobster Johnson: Metal Monsters of Midtown #1 (MAR160016). Robots, the size of skyscrapers, are rampaging through Midtown. They attack a bank but leave the money behind. Who is behind the robotic attacks on the banks, and why did the perpetrators leave the bank vaults untouched? Lobster Johnson is on the case, and he'll face his greatest challenge yet through the magic of Arcudi and artist Tonci Zonjic.

Lobster Johnson: Metal Monsters of Midtown #1 (MAR160016) is in comic shops May 25.
