Stories for the week of July 27, 2015
- Entertainment Weekly has unleashed a new horde of on-set photos from the sixth season of the Walking Dead tv series. Check out the full-sized gallery to get a sneak peek at some of the new faces and threats the survivors will meet this season.
- Director Bryan Singer shared some more hi-res (and totally tubular) images of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film with Screen Crush.
- Meawhile, another famous mutant is saying his farewells as Hugh Jackman posted this teaser image for Wolverine 2 on his official Twitter account.
- And in another corner of the MCU, director Tim Miller let slip a few more shots from the Deadpool movie on Empire to held tide fans over until the trailor drops.
- The Hollywood Reporter has announced, via an exclusive report, that filmmaker Sridhar Reddy and Z2 Comics publisher Josh Frankel have formed Modern Prometheus, a new company that will adapt independent comics for film and tv. The company's current slate includes creating an animated pilot for creator Ian McGinty's upcoming Welcome to Showside comic and a live-action, big screen adaptation of Paul Pope's The One Trick Rip-Off.
- Paul Pope has another adaptation of his work on deck as Tracking Board reports that production on the Battling Boy film from Paramount Pictures is picking up steam once more with Patrick Osborne (director of the Oscar-winning animated short, Feast) now set to oversee the project.
- Ahead of their September issue, Empire has released some new on-set images from the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice film with three of the film's key players in various locales.
- IDW Publishing has announced that USA Network has ordered a pilot for an adaptation of Brooklyn Animal Control (from creators J.T. Petty and Stephen Thompson). Petty will write and serve as an executive producer for the project, which follows a special division of the NYPD that aides the local werewolf population.
Stories for the week of July 20, 2015
- Game developer Mojang has announced that Rob McElhenney (of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame) will direct the currently-in-development Minecraft movie.
- Guillermo del Toro has found himself drift-compatible with Toronto, as Global News reports that the director has confirmed shooting for the highly-anticipated Pacific Rim sequel will begin in the city this November. The news outlet also learned that the working title for the sequel is Maelstrom.
- Eager for Netflix's next foray into the Marvel universe? So is creator Brian Michael Bendis, who wrote a bit about the upcoming Jessica Jones series on his official Tumblr.
- Scaredy-cats will have another reason not to go into the water, as Variety reports that Nokuto Koike's horror manga 6000: Rokusen is being adapted into a live-action film for English-speaking audiences. The story centers around a research facility 6,000-meters below the surface, where a mysterious disaster wipes out its entire crew. Three years later, a new team is sent to resume operations, but they quickly realize the facility should have remained abandoned. All Nippon Entertainment Works, producer Mike Medavoy, and publisher Gentosha Comics will partner up for the film.

- 20th Century Fox has taken pity on all of the folks who did't catch the special Deadpool teaser at SDCC by releasing a gallery of official photos from the upcoming film. You can check out the entire line-up at ComingSoon.Net in all their hi-res glory.
- ComingSoon.Net has also snagged the latest promo materials for the World of Warcraft film that were unveilved during SDCC. Check out the gallery for hi-res posters, concept art, and a peek at some of the props.
- Does the cancellation of Constantine still sting (it's okay—just let it out)? Well fret no more, fans (maybe). In an interview with IGN, stars Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards and executive producer Wendy Mericle said that the character may still appear in season 4 of Arrow.
- Actress Olivia Munn has revealed, via her official Instagram account, a colorful new 'do for her role as Psylocke in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalyopse film.
- And to follow up on Locke's locks, Entertainment Weekly has dropped your fist official look at X-Men: Apocalypse newcomers Psylocke and Apocalypse.
- The cast and crew of the upcoming Star Trek Beyond film gave fans a little extra after actor Idris Elba was confirmed to be a part of the movie during a video the team made to promote their charity efforts with Omaze.
- We've now passed the one week mark of FOX's 201 Days of X-Files, so try to hang on until January 24 (you can get through this—we believe in you).
Stories for the week of July 6, 2015
- Director Paul Feig continues his string of Twitter teasers for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot—this time giving us a glimpse at what the ladies will roll out in to go blast the baddies. Be sure to keep checking his official feed for more sneak peeks from behind-the-scenes (including a closer look at the new Ecto-1). Vulture also posted a photo of Melissa McCarthy donning the new uniform (sans proton pack). Deadline also reports that Neil Casey has been cast as the film's villain. UPDATE: A new photo of the entire team in costume has been posted on the NeoGaf forums by a super-fan/set ninja. UPDATED UPDATE: Teaser'd no more—Paul Feig has unleashed your official first look at Ghostbuster's leading ladies fully suited up via his official Twitter account.
- Entertainment Weekly continues their extra groovy coverage of the upcoming Ash vs. Evil Dead tv series with two new exclusive photos (seen above). Two notable cast-mates can be seen in the first shot: Ash's new sidekick Pablo (Ray Santiago) and the return of "the Classic," director Sam Raimi's Delta from the original Evil Dead trilogy.
- The official Netflix Twitter account has posted a teaser image for Elektra's upcoming arrival in season 2 of Daredevil, and Marvel has released a press release announcing that Elodie Yung will play the enigmatic assassin.
- The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Dark Horse Comics and Universal Cable Productions have inked a multi-year overall deal to adapt the publisher's exisiting comic titles for tv and develop new properties. Among the projects currently in development are Umbrella Academy (from creators Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá), Harrow County (from creators Cullen Bunn and Tyler Crook), Concrete Park (from creators Tony Puryear and Erika Alexander), and Back Up (based on a script by Tom Vaughn and written by Kenny Golde).
- In an exclusive report, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (the duo behind The Lego movie and Jump Street films) may oversee a new Han Solo... solo film. The new movie would be a part of the Star Wars anthology project and follow the exploits of the fan favorite rogue during his younger years. The film is projected to hit theaters May 25, 2018.
- Eager for a peek at Robert Kirkman's next tv endeavor (well, one of many endeavors)? ComingSoon.Net has posted your first look at Cinemax's upcoming Outcast adaptation.
- AMC's official Walking Dead Twitter feed is getting the hype train chugging along for season 6 with a bevy of teaser images (seen above) that show some of the series' key players sharing a tender moment with the walkers (seen above).
- Actor Ed Skrein has posted, via his official Twitter feed, the first official in-costume look at Ajax from the upcoming Deadpool film.
- Actress Gina Carano also posted up a teaser photo from the Deadpool film, via her official Instagram account, of her in-character as Angel Dust along with T.J. Miller's Weasel.
- Actor Cameron Monaghan has posted a teaser, via his official Instagram account, for his expanded role in season 2 of Gotham. (Hint: it's probably not Crazy Quilt.)
- Deadline Hollywood has learned that actor Ben Affleck will be co-writing a new stand-alone Batman film with DC Comics talent Geoff Johns. Affleck is also currently slated to direct and star in the new film project.
- The Hollywood Reporter has announced, via an exclusive report, that media company Heavy Metal has optioned the movie rights for the Image series Roche Limit. The series was created by Michael Moreci and Vic Malhotra, with Moreci writing and interior artwork by Malhotra and Kyle Charles, and it debuted in 2014.
- Betty or Veronica (or Jughead)? Your decision may have just gotten a little more complicated, as Deadline Hollywood has announced, via an exclusive report, that an hour-long drama based on Archie is currently in development for the CW. The new series, currently titled Riverdale, will offer a subversive take on the Archie comic universe.
