CHARLTON SPOTLIGHT MAGAZINE #1

ARGO PRESS
NOV043082
Offered in Previews for the first time! Charlton Spotlight #1 is a special tribute issue to the late Pat Boyette (1923-2000), who had a long and varied career in radio and TV broadcasting and independent filmmaking before turning his talents to comic books in the mid-1960s. Over the next 30 years, Boyette became a fan-favorite for his highly individual style on Charlton's horror, war, western, and adventure comics (especially The Peacemaker), and for his classic stories and covers in 1970s Warren magazines. This issue's front cover sports a brand-new Boyette portrait by the late, great Tom Sutton, with a back cover by Jim Amash. The issue features memoirs by Boyette's friends and associates Alex Toth, Joe Gill, Steve Skeates, Ron Frantz, Jim Amash, Bill Pearson, Don Mangus, and Robin Snyder. Plus, critical commentary by Ramon Schenk and James Cassara; an exhaustive checklist of Boyette's work in comics and film; a lengthy Boyette cover gallery; biographical information and resources; and scores of reproductions of classic Boyette artwork, some rarely seen and never before published. In addition to the extensive Boyette section, there's also a complete Charlton Comics title checklist (provided by Dan Stevenson), heavily illustrated with obscure covers!
