MONSTERS FROM THE VAULT #15 (RES)

MONSTERS FROM THE VAULT
MAY032617
The 15th  issue of Monsters from the Vault features a rare Creature from the Black Lagoon photo on the cover. This image should whet the reader's appetite for a sneak peak at Steve Kronenberg's and Tom Weaver's forthcoming McFarland book, Universal Horrors 2. In honor of the Gillman, their Creature chapter is excerpted. Also, Gary Prange provides a humorous look at a Creature prop that didn't make it into the final film! The late Herman Cohen (producer of such exploitation classics as I Was a Teenage Werewolf, I Was a Teenage Frankenstein, How to Make a Monster, Horrors of the Black Museum, and many more) is remembered by his niece, Gail Cohen. Gary Don Rhodes examines "The Horror Crisis of 1932," when the horror film almost met an early demise. As usual, Gary provides many rare facts and stories about the "near" death of the horror film long before the British ban of 1936. Rounding out the issue is Bryan Senn's look at a classic Universal double bill from the 1940s, Son of Dracula and The Mad Ghoul, and an analysis of "Great Supporting Performances in the Horror Film" by Stephen Thornton. All this, plus editorial comments, letters, DVD reviews, book reviews, and more than 100 photos, makes Monsters from the Vault the premiere publication for "Monster Lovers" everywhere!
