Pulido Pushes The Power of Persistence

Comics That Cut You Update #101: The man whose name is traditionally associated with Lady Death has not stopped to rest on his laurels, and continually can be found residing at his Coffin Comics booth wherever Comic Cons are planted. Like the one that just went down in San Diego.

Yes. We’re talking about Brian Pulido, who apparently brought the darkness with him so that a cloud of doom hung over his booth when we interviewed him at Comic Con International. There on his tables and behind him on a wall were several hand-crafted books and other merchandise for sale at the beginning of the coveted preview night. When we caught up with the creator and asked him about his long-serving stamina for show after show, we hoped that the Dark One would finally divulge to us his timeless trade secret.

And he did.

"I never sleep, man," he admitted. "You gotta be a shark. You gotta keep swimming to stay relevant in this crazy pop culture landscape. You gotta just keep swimming."

Yes, it’s official. Brian Pulido has studied at the school of Finding Nemo. He just keeps swimming. He just keeps swimming. This is how one stays focused so that there’s a continual flow of comics for fans who are digging Lady Death and La Muerta. Poking his head above the water to tell us what’s going on with his flagship books at Coffin Comics, Brian divulged details that you can hear about by playing the above YouTube video.

Check it out, and make sure you look for Coffin Comics each month in the PREVIEWS comic shop catalog!
