Staff Picks (September): The Legend of Zelda Legendary Edition Volume 1 — Ocarina Of Time GN

The Legend of Zelda is considered one of the most beloved franchises in videogame history. The very first entry into the series took gamers on a massive open world adventure on our little 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment Systems and gave us a sense of exploration that many of us had never experienced in a videogame. We had to look everywhere because hidden caverns or rooms could hold untold riches or items. With each new videogame console it seemed that the franchise was just getting better, and then we received The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64.

I can remember playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on my N64 in my room on a 13 inch TV/VCR combo. Despite the tiny screen, there was no mistake that I was playing through on of the grandest adventures of the genre. My memories fighting the game’s first boss within the Great Deku Tree, hunting for hidden pieces of heart, and finally racing across Hyrule Field with Epona are cherished. While I have played through the game countless times its always amazing when I find something that builds upon the memories of that adventure.

This November, Viz is taking two volumes of the original manga written and drawn by Akira Himekawa and combining them into one volume to make the perfect entry point for anyone looking to revisit one of Link’s most famous adventures through Hyrule.

It’s dangerous to go alone. Be sure to pick up The Legend of Zelda Legendary Edition from Viz this fall!
