Where do heroes go when they retire? Do they ever have a chance to retire? It is an underused theme in comics, until you pick up Hawkman and Adam Strange: Out of Time #1 (AUG160272) from DC Comics.

Imagine you're Adam Strange. You've fought the good fight. You're tired. Hey, is it too much too ask for some ice in your iced tea? But before you have a chance to sit in the hammock and enjoy your drink and a cool breeze, along comes karma that says relaxation isn't a luxury afforded to the people who wear the mantle of "hero." You're on call 24-7, whether you like it or not.

Adam Strange doesn't have time to think about what he does or doesn't like because in this new series his aspirations for a "normal life" are pounded into dust after a Zeta beam transmission puts him on the planet Rann. His beloved, Alanna, is calling for blood, and wants to go to war with Thanagar, as the once-great city of Ranagar has been reduced to an ash heap, with a body count that's beyond belief.

You can guess who wants to throw in his two cents when it comes to Thanagar. Enter Hawkman. And what was once a solo project now becomes a team-up.

Fans of the old-school style "Brave and the Bold" stories are in for a real treat with this slick super-charged six-issue mini-series written by Marc Andreyko and illustrated by Aaron Lopresti, with a variant cover that's also available by the one and only Walter Simonson!

Look for Hawkman and Adam Strange: Out of Time #1 (AUG160272) from DC Comics in the Premier Comics section of the August PREVIEWS catalog!
